Sunday 10th (August)
Arose quite early prepared myself for church, but still felt very
sad, went to the Presbyterian, and heard a tolerable good discourse. Came home ate
dinner after which Julia went to Sunday school and left John and I home alone, and
I tell you we had good times. John went to a funeral in the afternoon and in the
evening Mr ? came over and joked a while with us, after which John and I sat up
a while and then retired.
So much for our assumptions that young ladies should always be chaperoned!
